77th anniversary in extraordinary circumstances – Jelonka.com

Never, never, never again a war – these words, spoken 4 years ago by the late Colonel Edward Jakubowski, on the 77th anniversary of the end of World War II, are significant. Accustomed to the peace in Europe, we celebrate the holiday in extraordinary conditions.

The city ceremony at Mieczy Piastowskie in the Spa Park in Cieplice has an unusual character. This time there were no speeches from politicians and veterans. The host of the meeting – Grzegorz Koczubaj, read out the reasons why Western Europe celebrated the end of World War II on May 8, and the Russian regime a day later.

Before February 24, no one imagined that there would be a war in Europe caused by Putin and Russia. We believe that after World War II, countries knew how tragic it was and that they would not start wars again. We are aware that this may be the first step, and we Poles will be the next, said Jerzy użniak, president of Jelenia Góra. – There are less and less warriors, but there are people who remember the war from their childhood. We are used to the fact that there are wars in Asia, Africa and South America, but after the wars in the Balkans, we didn’t realize that one country could attack another. It was something else in the Balkans – nationalities were formed there. Here we have a different situation – a country is free to attack its neighbors … – added J. użniak.

The highlight of the meeting in Cieplice park was the laying of flowers by the official delegation. There are DPRD members, local government officials, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations and political parties.
