A garden made for awe and play – Novinky.cz

In spring, Helena Pelánková’s park is bustling. Her grandchildren’s cheerful laughter is accompanied by chirping birds, the sound of trees, the scent and color of flowers, and it all creates a fairy tale world that is fun to live in, no matter how much you want it.

The spacious space around the house with the tower from 1905 is perfect for children’s games and interests.

Island of freedom and personal knowledge

Ingrid and Richard’s little bastard worlds are spread across the slopes above Berounka over 4,500 m2 of land. From the pistachio-painted gates, you’ll see the magnificent Art Nouveau villa with elements of folk architecture and the many azaleas and woodpeckers blooming through the exotic jerlin foyer.

Ingrid preferred to tear dandelions and daisies from the yard, but she couldn’t blame herself for the beauty of the tulips and forget-me-nots that flourished. Her sister, meanwhile, was playing with her toy car on the path that connects the flowerbed to the terrace beside the house, a sand pit and historic gazebo, hidden behind a screen of laurel, laurel, bamboo, pine, and golden barberry.

Not far away, the surface of the pool shines, matching the color of the stylish sun loungers. A quiet life with water is fenced off for the sake of the children and also so that the porcupines living under old forsythia and lilac bushes do not drown.

Even the Empire’s curtains were playful at times as he peered curiously into the cracks between the stones in the drywall that had opened up the steep slope behind the house.

Tulips turn red in a terraced flowerbed cut by a moss-pillow-covered staircase, and peonies with luxurious and simple flowers are gearing up for fame.

Witness with crown in the clouds

Long ago, the garden was not a family oasis as a more representative addition to the mansion, the thick outline of which was divided into ornamental sections and orchards. Helena’s mother managed to save the cherry, pear and apple trees from her.

“They haven’t harvested in a long time, but I like that they still have strength and tenacity.”

An unmissable legacy from the previous owners are the trees that form a green dome on the border with the road and neighboring plots. Elm, ash, linden, maple and birch stretch branches to eight meters and often reveal the true age of a romantic garden with more than twice the trunk height.

The tight wall of conifers that separated the lawn from the front porch looked like a bunch of dwarves, but they really did scream, because the sparrows fought in it all the time and the finches were excited.

The owner invites the rare tulip lily, noble magnolia and catalpa to the tree veteran. Even beneath their crowns, shimmering shadows benefit cinnamon, forget-me-nots, lungs, berinia, butter-yellow orseys as well as delicate pink hearts and hawthorn.

Overcome obstacles with a rope

Mrs. Helena sacrificed a lot of energy in the struggle with ivy. “During my law practice my skin helped clear my mind, now we prefer to play with children on hidden stones and strewn over remains, where ivy has won the weeds, I just wave goodbye. In fact, I prefers a still life, where nature is more dazzling at will.”

Cinnamon competes for the toughness and versatility of the ivy plant. Not only do they cope well with the harsh conditions under conifers, but they are also covered with delicate flowers every spring.

And how does an experienced gardener deal with dry soil in a flowerbed under a deciduous tree? “I never dig up all the fallen leaves. The earthworms pull them under the soil, thereby bloating the soil beautifully, until it acquires a spongy structure that holds moisture better, so it doesn’t need to be watered afterward.

In this park, the more you make your job easier, the more time you save for fun and relaxation.
