Jakob Ingebrigtsen with superior win: World record slip

There was no new world record for Jakob Ingebrigtsen, 22, in the indoor 1500 meters in France on Wednesday night, but it was the best new year in the world.

But the person who set the new indoor world record was Lamecha Girma from Ethiopia at 3,000 meters. The new world record is 7.23.28 minutes. He lowered the old record by more than a second. Daniel Komen’s record of 7,24,90 minutes has stood since 1998.

WORLD RECORD: Lamecha Girma from Ethiopia. This is from last year’s WC, back then it was silver.

But also Ingebrigtsen succeeded in the season premiere at French Lievin with a time of 3,32,28 minutes, although the world record this time was unattainable.

He started as number three from the start. After two minutes, the rabbit’s work was done. And from two minutes before the goal, Ingebrigtsen was in a league of his own.

THE RECORD: Jakob Ingebrigtsen set a world indoor record in the 1500 meters in Lievin last year.

Frenchman Azeddine Habz was closest to the Norwegian, who did not come too close, but was more than three seconds behind, with a time of 3.35.27 minutes. Adel Mechaa from Spain finished in 3,36,55 minutes.

– I’m very happy with today, and I’m looking forward to EC, said Jakob Ingebrigtsen on VGTV broadcast.

The European Indoor Championships started on March 2, and will be held in the city of Istanbul, Turkey.

Karsten Warholm ran the 400 meters on VGTV in 2245.

Ingebrigtsen set a world record indoors from 1500 meters in the Liévin convention on February 17 last year with time, 3.30,6. His outdoor personal best is 3.28.32 (August 2021 Olympic final), Hicham El Guerrouj’s world record is 3.26.00, set in 1998.

Ingebrigtsen has struggled with several ailments last time.

– He’s not where he wants to be, but things have been going well lately. I think he’s in pretty good shape, manager Daniel Wessfeldt told VG on Tuesday morning.

PS! Swede Armand Duplantis overwhelmingly won, he was 19 centimeters ahead of number two. Claudio Stecchi from Italy surpassed 5.82. It was a new personal record for the Italian. Duplantis chose to surrender at an altitude of 6.01 meters. He holds his own world record and stands at 6.21 meters.
