Jesse Eisenberg, a Hollywood actor and director, will film at Lublin / lublin.eu

Lublin will be the location of the Hollywood production. Film “Real Pain”directed by Jesse Eisenberg will be shot in the chambers of our city in a few weeks. We are currently recruiting people who want to play the role extra.

The American film “The Real Pain”, which will be shot in our city, will be a unique opportunity to show the film potential of Lublin in world cinema. The cooperation confirms Lublin’s position as a film city, which is appreciated for its accessibility and variety of locations, but also offers effective and attractive support to film crews – said Beata Stepaniuk-Kuśmierzak, Deputy Mayor of Lublin City for Culture, Sports and Participation.

Director, screenwriter, and actor of one of the main roles of Jesse Eisenberg, is a world-famous actor known among others for his roles in the Woody Allen films: “To Rome with Love” and “Cafe Society”. A breakthrough in his career was participation in David Fincher’s film “The Social Network”, where he played Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of the social networking site Facebook. The highly acclaimed role earned him nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, a Golden Globe Award and the British Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (BAFTA). He also directed the film “When You Finish Saving the World” and the dramas “Asuncion”, “The Revisionist” and “The Spoils”.

Film entitled “Real Pain” is a story focused on the strained relationship between cousins ​​- Benji (played by Kieran Culkin, known for his role as Roman Roy in the TV series “Succession”) and David (played by Jesse Eisenberg). It has the structure of a street movie that starts in New York and Warsaw and ends in Krasnystaw. Along the way, the heroes visit several important Polish cultural and historical sites, most of them located in Lublin. Drawings will be realized in English. It will gain a wide audience thanks to international distribution in cinemas, screenings at world film festivals and publication on streaming platforms.

The co-producer on the Polish side is the film company Extreme EmoDons owned by Ewa Puszczyńska from Łódź, known for films such as: “Inland Empire” by David Lynch, “Ida” and “Cold War” directed by Paweł Pawlikowski, “Quo Vadis Aida” by Jasmily Zbanic and “Kill and leave this town” by Mariusz Wilczyński.

This is the true story of Irena Gut Opdyke, a Polish woman awarded the Fair People Among Nations Award. The screenplay was written by Dan Gordon, author of the Oscar-winning film Rain Man. The main roles are played by Sophie Nelise, a rising star of Canada’s youth generation, and Dougray Scott, a world-class star. The film will premiere this fall.
