Karoline Bjerkeli Grøvdal sets Norwegian record 5000 meters

Grøvdal has a personal best of 14.43 and demands the light rabbit on the Norwegian record. The goal was to erase Ingrid Kristiansen’s record of 14.37.33 which was set in Stockholm on August 5, 1986.

– The best day of my life! Now I’m crazy. This has been a dream all along. I felt the pressure to break that record, and now I’m breaking it. It’s delicious, Grøvdal told NRK.

He followed up for NTB and other writing press.

– Today felt fantastic from the start, and you have to know your body well to do what I did today.

Fantastic

– How long have you had this race in your head?

– I’ve always dreamed of breaking the Norwegian record here in Bislett. There is something special about doing this. There are pros and cons to Bislett Games. I’m a little scared of it a little too. There was a bit of extra pressure with so many spectators in the stands and families in his place. It makes you extra nervous. It’s been a week where I have the Norwegian record in my head on every run. I can’t stop thinking about it. Now it is running, he said when asked NTB.

Grøvdal attacked along the way and even took the lead when the field began to lose to the rabbits. With four laps to go, he was almost up to date with the inner court lights, and in the finish he was more than six seconds ahead of Kristiansen’s time.

– I am very focused on the light along the way and take responsibility when I see that others will release the light. I’m so relieved. “Two rounds before the finish, I noticed that I took this,” Grøvdal told NRK.

Experience

– I’ve never experienced such pressure from the stands. I felt like they were taking me around. That was amazing.

Coach Grøvdal Knut Jæger Hansen is impressed with the students he has coached over the years.

– This is very good and especially the fact that he is very offensive. This means that he is the best, and above all, among the best in Europe. It’s still a long way from being the best in the world, Hansen told NTB.

It didn’t matter that he was beaten by three strong Ethiopians with Dawit Seyam winning at 14,25,84, Gudaf Tsegay and Letesenbet Gidey passing him in the final round.

Grøvdal led well over 3000 meters (8.48.65) and 4000 meters (11.42.71).
