Landslide in Loen – Dog insert

– Based on the testimony of witnesses, it is possible that there are still people left in the avalanche. “That’s why we wanted to deploy rescue dogs,” police task force leader John Endre Skeie said at a press conference at 3pm on Saturday.

No results were found in the search. The crew, among other things, had passed the wreckage of a car that had been hit by an avalanche. A heat-seeking camera has also been used.

– We have witnesses who think they’ve seen a few people, it’s a slightly different number. “To be completely sure, we’re continuing our search,” said Skeie.

Foreign tourists count

– Police have mapped and counted some foreign tourists who are concerned.

This is what the West Police wrote in a press release regarding the landslide in Loen on Saturday afternoon.

The search resumed that same morning with drones and heat-seeking cameras.

– The police will continue to work to investigate whether everyone has left the area safely. A small area across the river where a landslide had been triggered is now considered safe by a geologist. Thus, the crew will begin with a surface search in this area.

– Still uncertain

No one is still missing after that incident.

According to police, the landslide area is still too unsafe to send crews ashore.

– This is because of the two large shovels hanging over the area. It is being considered, in collaboration with geologists, whether this shovel can be released in a controlled manner so that it is safe to enter the crew search area.

There was also a new landslide on Friday afternoon.
