One person has been dug up from an avalanche in Trysil. Police can’t believe more was taken.
At 11.46am Wednesday morning, Inland police received reports of an avalanche 100 to 150 meters wide on the southeast side of Trysilfjellet.
The landslide was first notified by a nearby resort.
– Emergency services and volunteers are on the move to report avalanches. People have been reported in avalanches, police wrote on Twitter.
At 12:33, police wrote in an update that one person had been dug up from the avalanche.
– It is not known if there were any personal injuries. No more people have been reported missing, but we are continuing to gather resources and further searches, police wrote on Twitter.
In a press release, the police emphasized that it was possible that more people would be buried by landslides.
Pål Chief of Staff Erik Teigen in the Innlandet police district said the man who had been dug up was awake.
NTB wrote Teigen informed strengthen that the man was flown to a hospital in Oslo in an air ambulance.
“Now we have full access to the resources to cross the avalanche for safety,” he said, adding that they had no information that there would be more avalanches.
– Have a good routine
Operations manager at Ski Resort SkiStar, Jan Linstad, Trysil told VG that the man who had been dug up was being checked for health – but he stood up and spoke after he was taken out.
Linstad said that there was a group of about 15-20 people on tour.
It was the ski patrols at the facility that were the first to report the landslide and the first to do so.
– It was traumatic, but we have a good routine for it. The assistance was provided very quickly, he said.
Baard Operations Manager Einar Hoft previously told VG that all available resources had been sent to the site.
Avalanche dogs, helicopters and volunteers are on the way, he said.
In recent days, there have been more than 50 centimeters of fresh snow on Trysilfjellet, wrote NTB.
