Skårdal becomes a speed coach for mountain women

This was announced by the ski association during the presentation of next year’s alpine national team on Wednesday. Skårdal returns to the coaching profession after 17 years at the International Ski and Snowboard Association (FIS).

There she first worked as race director for women, while she has since become a technical expert with responsibilities for work on injury prevention, fluoride bans and alpine skiing during the Olympics in China.

– It’s been 17 years since I was last in Norway and working with the national team, so I was very happy when the team called and came up with the offer. It didn’t take me long to think, Skårdal said in an interview via video link during the event in Oslo.

– This is a very interesting team to join, both on the male and female side. I approach the task with great motivation, continued the experienced alpine profile.

Skårdal was the national team manager for the Norwegian men’s alpinist from 2000 to 2005. Prior to that, he himself was a successful alpinist with two World Cup gold medals in super-G and declining World Cup silver, as well as seven World Cup victories. Telemarkingen is also an alpine expert at NRK.

He thinks the experience of many roles in sport could come in handy when he again has to leave for coaching work.

– I have spent my whole life in mountainous environments, and I have visited most roles and areas in sports. I took a lot of things from there, I know a few athletes and I feel that I can contribute a lot in terms of speed.
