Thorsby showed this – received strong reaction from Sweden – NRK Sport – Sports news, results and broadcast schedule

Norway’s 1-0 goal was hotly debated by Sweden following the red-shirts’ 2-1 win in Stockholm on Sunday night.

Thorsby is accused by some of having filmed himself for a penalty kick when he fell to the ground after pulling a rifle into the back of Sweden’s Emil Krafth.

Show «evidence»

When Thorsby met the Norwegian press at the Ullevaal Stadium on Tuesday, he came prepared.

The Italian professional pulled up one of his trouser legs and revealed a cut to his leg which he believes proves there was contact between him and Kraft – and thus awarded the penalty kick.

The point is he got his left foot out and took from me a clear scoring opportunity, because I lost my balance and fell. For me, it was punishment, Thorsby told NRK two days later.

Is it right to give a penalty kick?

However, NRK expert Carl-Erik Torp believes the evidence value is small.

– There’s no guarantee that it was exactly in that situation that he was targeted, but there was definitely contact in that situation, said Torp.

– The reason for the reaction was not whether there was contact or not, but the way he threw himself – that he made the most of the contact. That’s what created the discussion, Torp said.

– More than dramatic

Thorsby fully understands this.

He said that during the fight, he never thought that there would be so much commotion around the situation as it actually was.

– Man then I look at the TV pictures afterward, and then I see the doubt that other people see – that it can be judged from both directions. That I understand. After the TV picture, I saw the same thing. I’d rather say that fall was more than dramatic, I might be a bit of environmental damage from Italy. I can take it, he admits.

TV4 journalist Olof Lundh was among the harshest critics on Sunday night. He also stands tall after the brand image.

– I looked at the clip again, and it was the leg that was affected. But just because you hurt yourself doesn’t mean it’s a violation of the rules, Lundh told NRK.

He believed there was no doubt that Thorsby helped.

– It’s not what I thought: “Oh, he has a wound on his leg, obviously there is a punishment”. Damage can occur without any violation. His wounds don’t prove “dirt” to me, Lundh said.

Thorsby had to face a strong reaction from the Swedish team after the match. He told NRK he had also received a lot of personal feedback from angry Swedes in the hours and days that followed.

Some of them are on the edge of agitation. It may have crossed that line too, he said.

I don’t want to be called a moviegoer

According to Thorsby, he has received so much pes that he cannot reproduce what was said.

Just read the comments column on Instagram, okay? But that’s not what’s important. What matters is everything that happened. I don’t want to be called a filmmaker, nothing I can guarantee that I am. That was probably the most difficult thing for me. I stand 100 percent for Fair gameand that’s one of the big things for me as a footballer,” he said.

Nevertheless, he didn’t let himself be too influenced by the fact that people had strong opinions about the way he behaved in Stockholm.

It doesn’t matter. Football is emotion, and it creates a lot of emotion, and I think it’s good between Norway and Sweden. There should be a lot of emotion, and in a situation like a punishment situation, where a person thinks it is and isn’t, then obviously there will be a lot of emotion, he said.

Norway plays a new match on Thursday. Then Slovenia was waiting for Ullevaal.
