Trading skills come with gusto

It is a misconception that expertise or skill in a particular field, be it forex trading or sports, is an innate trait that only a select few possess. This way of thinking presupposes that you are an expert or not, and that there is no way to acquire a skill unless you are born with it.

While it is true that some individuals are naturally gifted with traits or skills in certain areas (for example, height for a basketball player or good eye-hand coordination for a race car driver), skill is actually a developmental process that develops over time. Actually, there are three stages of development:

Early stage: Play and explore

This early phase revolves around play and exploration, in which the individual watches the activity for the pleasure itself. Trainers or teachers are chosen simply because of their ability to structure the learning process, while family members and peers usually provide support and encouragement.

Middle stage: Special technique development

At this stage, the individual focuses on certain aspects of his field in pursuit of more serious excellence, as his practice is focused on developing more specific techniques. Let’s take the example of a tennis player. During training, for example, he may decide on a specific action to focus on, such as serving or volleyball practice. At this stage, the main motive is pride and appreciation for performance.

Final phase: Effort for the so-called championship

It is in this phase that the so-called championship is monitored. Individual goals shift from competence to real expertise. During this phase, it becomes necessary to work with a respected mentor and intensive training is required, which takes up most of the individual day, so that some young athletes are trained at home to find time for further training. In short, performance in the field has become a lifestyle and part of an individual’s identity.

Conclusion

It is not surprising that novice traders usually aspire to the next stage of trading. However, if you are new to trading, we recommend that you take the previous steps first so that you can truly achieve mastery in the discipline called trading later.
