Up for grabs is the odd Stutz Blackhawk. It is one of the most luxurious cars in the world, and even the stars love it

Are you looking for a luxury car with a slightly new design? You may like Stutz Blackhawk…

From 1911 to 1935, the American automaker Stutz was engaged in the production of powerful and luxury cars, but in 1937 went bankrupt. In the late 1960s, the brand was revived by New York banker James O’Donnell. And he had a clear vision: the exclusive car would again carry the Stutz name.

Back in 1970, Stutz Motor Company introduced its first model of a new era, the luxury Blackhawk coupe, whose unique look was inspired by the past designed by former Chrysler designer Virgil Exner. The prototype was built by the Italian company Ghia.

And in Italy, steel bodies were also produced by hand for production cars, first at the Carrozzeria Padane in Modena, and from 1972 at the Carrozzeria Saturn in Cavallermaggiore near Turin. Just over 5.8 meters long, the coupe uses a mechanical group from Pontiac Grand Prix, and the engine is originally from this car. The 7.5 liter V8 engine, mated to a three-speed automatic transmission, produces 317 kW and 570 Nm. The Blackhawk, weighing about 2.3 tons, can accelerate from rest to 60 miles per hour (96 km/h) in 8.4 seconds with it and accelerates to 210 km/h. Consumption around 30 l/100 km…

Later the Blackhawk was also used by other power units, and not only by General Motors. In 1980 the car was modified to fit the Pontiac Bonneville chassis, then in 1985 the Oldsmobile Delta 88/Buick LeSabre chassis.

As well as the handcrafted bodywork, Stutz is also extraordinary, for example in the paint which has 18 to 22 coats of paint, or the interior elements which are made of 24 carat gold. Automakers also use very high-quality leather, first-class wool or real wood. Equipment includes automatic headlights, automatic air conditioning, air suspension, cruise control or even a minibar in the rear.

At its time, the Stutz Blackhawk was one of the most luxurious cars on the planet, and was also loved by celebrities at the time. At least three of them were bought by Elvis Presley, among other famous owners we can find stars such as Evel Knievel, Johnny Cash, Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Elton John or Al Pacino. Iranian Shah Muhammad Rezá Shah Pahlavi Árjamehr reportedly even ordered at least 10 copies. Until 1987, only about 500 to 600 cars were produced.

That’s why we are interested in finding Blackhawks for sale in Germany. This is a 1974 car that hides a 7.3-liter eight-cylinder engine with an output of 134 kW under its hood. It has about 64,000 kilometers on it. Unfortunately, the seller doesn’t mention anything about its history.

White stutz is k own for 119,000 euros, which is about 2.8 million crowns. By the way, in 1974, the Blackhawk started at $35,000, which is equivalent to $212,000 today – or roughly 4.7 million crowns at today’s exchange rates.
