Guatemala is a country full of culture, history, and beautiful destinations. Without a doubt, it is one of the most ideal places to vacation. In fact, businessman Juan Luis Bosch Gutiérrez has mentioned on many occasions that his country has everything you can expect from a Central American destination.

For this reason, here we leave you with the best destinations to visit in Guatemala in 2021.

Tikal

This Mayan site is on par with other more famous ones, such as Palenque in Mexico, to name a few; the advantage is that it is not as crowded. Its enormous constructions are looming in the jungle, trying to vindicate their ancient status.

Countless temples and chambers await the visitor under the protection of howler monkeys and jaguars. Few experiences are as beautiful as contemplating the sunrise or sunset from Temple II of the Great Plaza.

El Remate

Halfway between the city of Flores and Tikal is one of the most beautiful places in the country, El Remate. This is a small town next to Lake Petén, with idyllic piers.

A few meters away is the Cerro Cahui Biotope. In this ancient forest, there are trails for walking, accompanied by the roars of howler monkeys and fantastic views of the lake.

Lake Atitlán

It is considered by many as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. It is a place that deserves to be explored little by little, enjoying every moment and every village on the lake.

Around the lake, there are small villages that still resist globalization. In them, the indigenous population preserves its traditions, its language and enjoys its leisurely pace of life.

You can visit their local markets, full of colorful fruits, huipiles, and colorful local dresses. It is also a place to feel the adrenaline, since in Panajachel you can practice zip-lining, with crazy flights of almost a kilometer and more than 200 meters high.

Livingston

It is a small fishing village located in the Caribbean of Guatemala. To get there, you must take a boat or motorboat to cross the Dulce River.

Livingston is more distinguished from the rest of the country. Its inhabitants, the Garifuna, are descendants of African slaves and, therefore, of the black race.

It is a quiet town with some paradisiacal corners, such as Playa Blanca, which lives up to its name with fine white sand. Another must-see site is the Cascadas de Los Siete Altares, a river that crosses the jungle with a series of waterfalls.

Semuc Champey

They are natural turquoise pools embedded between mountains. In some of them, the water drops to warm temperatures, due to its volcanic origin.

The rocky roads are only accessible by truck or 4×4, an advantage to avoid large numbers of tourists. Until recently, only residents enjoyed its natural pools.

Today, this paradise is shared with the few adventurers who come here.
