Lány (Kladno) – After today’s talks with Swiss President Ignatius Cassis, President Milos Zeman appreciates that his country, although neutral, has joined the EU sanctions against Russia. According to Zeman, both countries hope that the conflict in Ukraine will not be resolved by rotten compromise, but with Ukraine’s victory. The statesmen highlighted the mutual relations between the Czech Republic and Switzerland, in which neither area was problematic.

Both Zeman and Cassis recall that Switzerland, even as a neutral country, condemns Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. “Both sides hope that this conflict will be resolved not with a rotten compromise, but with a Ukrainian victory,” Zeman said. Switzerland is taking over the sanctions imposed by the European Union, Cassis said. According to him, Switzerland’s position clearly shows that the country stands behind Western values and has a clear position.

According to Zeman, the Czech Republic can be inspired by Switzerland in terms of innovation, where the country is among the top in the world. The first step in this regard may be the formation of the Minister of Science and Innovation, which has been decided by the current government of Petr Fiala (ODS). Cassis describes the excellent trade relations between the Czech Republic and Switzerland. “It can be improved, we just introduced innovation here,” he said.

Zeman described the level of bilateral relations between the Czech Republic and Switzerland as very good. The joint discussions have become more friendly, “he said. According to Cassis, even in view of the upcoming Czech presidency of the European Union, we are talking about Switzerland’s relations with the unions,” Cassis said.
