The Klæbo camp in further negotiations: – We consider ourselves finished with this case

– We have nothing new to say. “Johannes has agreed to go to the World Cup, and we consider it finished,” said Lasse Gimnes to NTB.

Gimnes is the general manager of the Gimcom company and manages most of the communications for Team Klæbo.

Last Friday, Johannes Høsflot Klæbo relinquished the right to use the sponsorship mark of his personal sponsor Uno-X on the national team’s jersey.

Not long afterward, cross-country ski manager Espen Bjervig at Communicate at the Norwegian Ski Association was notified that Klæbo’s representation agreement with the association was in the box.

They have been negotiating it off and on since May.

Not finished yet

On Sunday, NRK presented a case that this is not the case.

– That is, we have not yet clarified what agreement will be made, but a standard agreement could be an alternative, as well as a longer agreement, Bjervig told NRK.

Torbjørn Skogstad, chairman of the cross-country skiing committee at the Norwegian Ski Association, added to NRK that he was confident an agreement would be reached in a short time.

Gimnes said that Johannes Høsflot Klæbo and his father Haakon were on their way to a training camp and altitude meeting in Livigno in Italy on Monday.

– We’ve said quite a lot and sent out a well above average long press release on Friday. Now Johannes wants to focus on training and preparations ahead of the season opener in Beitostølen, said Gimnes about the possibility of new and quick negotiations.

Quality

Johannes Høsflot Klæbo is leaving the national team ahead of the upcoming season. This is justified for sporting and non-sporting reasons. Since then, the Klæbo camp and the ski association have negotiated a so-called representation agreement.

Klæbo is essentially eligible to run all the World Cup races before Christmas because he is a World Cup winner.

However, Klæbo could compete in the season opener in Beitostølen. It runs from November 17 to 19. The following week, the World Cup kicked off in Ruka, Finland.
