Prague, 30 October 2023 (PROTEXT) – Today, global and Czech cities face a number of environmental and urban challenges. Starting from problems that need to be addressed at the national (or more precisely international) level, to problems that are under the jurisdiction of local districts/cities or even neighboring districts. World Cities Day, which is celebrated every October 31, is also intended to remind us of this.
According to Ondřej Švrček, intelligent communications expert and head of communications networks Municipality, the situation is becoming more complicated due to changes in the composition and, with it, the needs of the population. Perhaps never in history has urban “neighborhood” been more varied. Representatives of several different generations live on one square kilometer, and if the city wants to manage the living space to everyone’s satisfaction, it places completely new demands on it. However, the surprisingly universal answer is communication, which uses modern technology but is commonly used in society.
“A healthy functioning city starts with healthy relationships. And healthy relationships cannot be created and strengthened in any other way than through mutual communication. “Because it is only with the support of city residents that cities can overcome the fundamental challenges – be they environmental or otherwise – that impact every individual.” mention Ondřej Švrček, founder of the Munipolis communications networkimportant role of communication. “Fortunately, we live in an age where we can rely on a range of technologies to make working with information as easy and inclusive as possible. This means that it can reach all levels of society evenly.”
Cities that have communications debt are more vulnerable
The association’s survey also proved that cities lacking communications are significantly more vulnerable AMKOS. Although city leadership is able to act and work in the interests of citizens, trust in government may be lower than it should be due to low levels of dialogue. In addition, a lot of information does not reach the leadership, creating a gap between citizens’ expectations and the reactions of people’s representatives. At the same time, a long-term correlation between the functioning and communication of management and the surrounding community and interest in village life – both on the part of long-time residents and newcomers – has been seen. And that is a fundamental economic driver.
In contrast, city managers who communicate are generally rated as 57% more capable than their less talkative counterparts. At the same time, he was able to activate more citizens. Smart communication increases participation, questionnaire surveys and polls have ten times more contributors (plus verified) than other forms. And at the same time, it also allows citizens who are rarely in the municipality to be reached. In addition, according to Munipolis, 20% of people in their communications network voluntarily register with volunteer groups that work for the benefit of the city or municipality.
After all, this was also confirmed by Radek Janoušek, one of the founders of the Clean Up the Czech Republic event. “For the annual cleanup as part of the event Let’s clean up the Czech Republic we have been using Munipolis for the last 5 years. Thanks to the functionality of the reporting initiative from the general public, each group manages to find hard-to-reach messes, and at the same time, all the volunteers involved can be handled en masse in a few seconds.” explained Radek Janoušek. “We don’t rely on pencil and paper, but intelligent digital communication. Thanks to this, our Clean Up Czech Republic is always one of the first countries able to report cleaning results in real-time on World Clean Up Day.”
Munipolis wants to give cities the opportunity to map the moods of their citizens for free
To celebrate World Cities Day, Munipolis, in collaboration with the Ukliďme Česko association and its ECOcalendar, which focuses on promoting important ecological days, will offer newly involved cities the opportunity to use the most advanced tools for free until the end of February. , thanks to quality communication with residents to start the village. Thus, city management has the opportunity to obtain input from citizens in a simple way, for example in the form of a small referendum, to map their mood or, for example, to inform about new projects.
Municipal organizations, schools, kindergartens or, for example, associations can also be involved. “We adhere to the philosophy that the most important step is always the first. Therefore, we want to reduce barriers and offer large cities and municipalities the opportunity to carry out as many communications projects as they need for free until next spring. The end of the year and the start “The new year is always a sign of decision-making, and cities like this will have the best tools to do it simply and with as many engaged citizens as possible.” explain Ondřej Švrček. “And we can’t think of a better way to address today’s urban challenges than by providing free tools that enable city leaders and their citizens to work together.”
