Millions of children and adults around the world regularly consume sugary fizzy drinks. In addition, young people very often consume it with alcohol, and the consequences can be very bad. On the one hand, the drink reduces the ability to judge one's own drunkenness, and then alcohol combined with stimulants can cause serious disorders of the circulatory system and lead to death.
The World Health Organization Regional Office in Europe has called on European governments to start restricting the sale of drinks to minors. Consumption of these drinks by teenagers is very dangerous and causes problems with their health development.
“Because the sale of energy drinks is rarely age-restricted, and because there is evidence of the negative effects of caffeine on children's health, serious health problems related to the consumption of these drinks by children await us in the future,” WHO warned.
Denmark and Turkey have completely banned the sale of energy drinks, Sweden only sells them to people over fifteen years old. Experts emphasize that children should not consume caffeine at all. However, with hot drinks (coffee) they drink it very slowly, while with cold energy drinks there is a risk of caffeine overdose and the dangerous effects of such an overdose.
