00:01. Macron assured Zelensky that Paris would soon provide further support to Ukraine
French President Emmanuel Macron spoke by telephone with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday. Topics of conversation include: the support Paris wants to provide to Ukraine “in the coming days and weeks,” the Élysée Palace said.
Macron “reaffirmed that France is determined to provide all necessary support, in the long term and together with its partners.” The French president “may also provide details of deliveries in the coming days and weeks to support Ukraine’s war effort,” the statement said.
The French president stressed that he was interested in a ceasefire during the Olympics in Paris, so that Russia would stop its ongoing actions and “all useful diplomatic initiatives” could be taken to start negotiations that would respect Ukraine’s interests.
Macron mentioned new supplies to Ukraine in a speech on social media at the weekend. He then stressed, answering internet users’ questions, that it was necessary to continue providing assistance to Ukraine, which – he added – “we will do in a few weeks.”
