— Polish law clearly states that the council of ministers is responsible for international policy, and the president must coordinate all his activities in this area with the council. I am sure that Prime Minister Tusk and Minister Sikorski will solve this problem, but from what I see, it doesn’t seem to be the case, it’s a shame – said former Prime Minister Leszek Miller.
In a conversation with Mikołaj Kunica, he also referred to the idea of placing nuclear warheads in Poland. — These issues are so complicated that if you want to implement them, you have to agree on the smallest things in the privacy of your office first. After all, this is not our arsenal, but a storage of American military weapons on Polish territory. I don’t know if Andrzej Duda agrees on this with the current US administration. We must also remember that the spread of nuclear weapons, on the one hand, has a deterrent effect, but on the other hand, reduces the risk of an enemy’s first strike, says Leszek Miller. According to him, we must always consider what is more profitable for us in a situation like this. – And it seems like the president didn’t do that kind of analysis – said Leszek Miller.
So what was Andrzej Duda aiming for when he started talking about Poland’s participation in Nuclear Sharing?
— This effect is the same as previous declarations regarding increased defense spending in NATO member states. After all, even the Americans grimaced, saying that it had not been agreed with anyone. In my opinion, this is a childish attitude that I have become accustomed to when it comes to the president, said Leszek Miller in an interview with Business Insider Polska.
Let us remember that in an interview for “Fakt”, President Duda said that “if our allies decide to deploy nuclear weapons as part of Nuclear Sharing also in our region to strengthen the security of NATO’s eastern flank, we are ready for that.”
