– we read a letter to President Andrzej Duda.

Justification for the request

Provincial Minister Father Wojciech Kulig and the Provincial Council justified their request with events that took place at the Second World War Museum.

The immediate motive behind the request was a series of events related to the removal of the Saint’s memorial objects from the permanent exhibition at the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk. Maksymilian Maria Kolbe, the family of Blessed Ulma and Captain Witold Pilecki

– wrote the monks, noting:

These events and the words spoken afterwards seem to give a very dangerous direction to the social discourse in Poland, suggesting that being a Catholic and being guided by the values of the Gospel is a reason to be excluded from the collective memory of the nation and some shameful crime that is not suitable for a modern person. Therefore, we would ask the President to take the initiative to prevent this detrimental development of events.
