00:01. A gas platform with Russian troops is attacked
Ukrainian Navy spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk said Saturday that Ukrainian forces carried out an attack on a former gas platform containing Russian military equipment and personnel.
A Navy spokesman said that enemy forces use this place to manipulate GPS signals to pose a risk to civilian shipping, including the operation of ships in the so-called grain corridor – writes the Ukrainska Pravda website.
Pletenchuk announced on social media that half a day before the Ukrainian attack, the Russian military moved military equipment and personnel to a platform in the Black Sea. There were no civilians on site and the platform did not fulfill its original function.
The decision to carry out the raid by naval and military intelligence (HUR) forces was taken to ensure the safety of civilian shipping, he added.
The spokesperson later deleted his social media posts about the matter.
