Healthy lifestyle can prevent cancer, scientists tell the world

For years, doctors have been warning about unhealthy lifestyles, and the fact that our lifestyle may not be immediately visible on the body, but only in later life.

According to them, poor nutrition essentially increases the risk of cancer in the future. They also found that on average one in five women and one in four men live a healthy life.

Researchers from Harvard University published the results they achieved by mapping 136,000 volunteers. For example, they found that cancer cases would drop by 20 to 40 percent and death rates would even be halved if people adopted a healthy lifestyle. The study was published by dailymail.co.uk.

A decline will occur if people:

  • They do at least two and a half hours of physical activity per week.
  • Consume no more than one alcoholic drink per day (no more than two for men)
  • They maintained a BMI between 18.5 and 27.5 points.

At the same time, experts say that if people follow these prescribed recommendations, the death rate will decrease:

  • Colon cancer by 30%
  • For prostate cancer it is 21%

The authors of the study in the journal JAMA Oncology said that not following just one prescribed lifestyle recommendation was enough to increase the risk of developing cancer again.

But if a person follows all four recommendations, they are classified as having a “low risk” of developing cancer.

Unfortunately, according to the study, only 18% of women and 25% of men included in this group, met all aspects of the healthy recommendations in the questionnaire.

The goal is to educate about healthy lifestyles.

Cancer treatment has come a long way in recent years and is very successful in many cases. Doctors can treat a person using their own immune system, and in some cases have even reported destroying tumors in the body within weeks.

Still, doctors and study authors say their goal is to convince people to change their lifestyles. They say the treatment could save more lives than even the most modern treatments.
