— Fourteen years ago, I left Law and Justice, after the Smolensk disaster. We are now driving near the Presidential Palace, where I work. I don’t know if anyone else in Polish politics would say that I feel responsible for the disaster that happened in Smolensk. Because I feel partly responsible for it. And believe me, it was an experience that changed me a lot. Because then I realized that I had no way of explaining to myself why I often argued with other Poles. And because of that, the president and the prime minister could not communicate. And this is also my fault, Kamiński admitted.
The politician indicated the “Polish-Polish war” as the real cause of the death of President Lech Kaczyński and 96 people who flew to Smolensk. — And I, admitting my mistake, said: I am leaving politics where I have to face hatred. (…) I also have a lot of work to do on myself to change myself and fight many bad things in myself – Kamiński admitted.
As he said, he is currently ashamed of the fact that he introduced modern political marketing in Poland. — I gave different people a tool that they know how to use, but for bad things. Because today, PR in Poland on many sides of the political scene has disrupted our thinking about the content of politics – said the guest of “Onet Rano”.
Michał Kamiński’s career in PiS and his sudden change of direction
Michał Kamiński joined PiS in 2002. He quickly became, alongside Adam Bielan, the main spin doctor in Jarosław Kaczyński’s party. The year 2005 was one of the most important years in Michał Kamiński’s political biography. He was one of the creators of PiS’s double success in the elections. Kamiński was also a close associate of Lech Kaczyński. In 2007-2009 he served as State Secretary in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland.
In 2014, Michał Kamiński made a spectacular change – he changed party colors and joined PiS’s biggest rival, Civic Platform. When Ewa Kopacz took over PO, he became one of her closest collaborators.
