00:03. Zelensky: Situation on the front near Pokrovsk “very difficult”

The situation around Pokrovsk and other front lines in Donetsk Oblast is “very difficult”; Russian forces are concentrating their main efforts there, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said after a conversation with the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrski.

There is a report from the commander: Pokrovsky and other areas of the Donetsk region. It is very difficult there, where the main Russian efforts and the greatest forces are concentrated. The most important thing now is the steadfastness of each of our units and our ability to crush the invaders.

– Zelensky stressed.

Russian troops are currently about 12 km from Pokrovsk, a key transport hub in Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine.

Commander (Syrski) also reported on operations in Kursk Oblast (Russia). We continue to increase our control in several areas near the border with Ukraine. Today, like every other day, we are replenishing our resources for prisoner exchanges. (…) This is what will help bring many of our people home from Russian captivity

Zelensky said.

He added that “we must also realize that all the tension we are experiencing in Russia means that they cannot put any more pressure on our Donetsk region.”

The Ukrainian Armed Forces launched an offensive operation in the Kursk Oblast of Russian territory on August 6. The Russian territory has not been occupied by foreign troops since World War II.
