Johaug plans to run just four World Cup races before the WC
Therese Johaug revealed in a VG interview that she plans to run eight ski races in the lead-up to the WC in Trondheim. Four of them will be in the World Cup.
It is unlikely that Johaug will be seen in international competition between Christmas and the start of the WC in February. All four of the races he wants to compete in the World Cup are in the final two months of the year.
– Not too much… In other words, I really have to try to fast before Christmas, Johaug added. VG.
He needs to compete at the World Cup to qualify for the long-distance events at the World Cup. Earlier this month, the 36-year-old confirmed his much-talked about cross-country comeback.
This is the race plan that Johaug put together:
* 23–24 November: 10 km freestyle and 20 km classic at the national season opener in Beitostølen.
* November 29 and December 1: 10 km free start and 20 km free start at the opening of the World Cup in Ruka, Finland.
* 6 and 8 December: 10 km freestyle and 20 km skiathlon at the World Cup in Lillehammer.
* January 15 and 18: 20 km skiathlon and 10 km classic in NM in Gåsbu in Hamar.
Johaug did not completely rule out the possibility of attending the World Cup in Davos on December 15, but guaranteed that he would not be seen at the Tour de Ski around New Year. (NTB)
