Not President Miloš Zeman, whom Czechs used to see on television on the evening of 28 October. This year, Prime Minister Andrej Babi (ANO), who decided to replace the head of state, will discuss it.
In the evening, Babi will give a speech on the anniversary of the founding of independent Czechoslovakia. According to government spokesman Vladimír Vořechovsk, the speech will last for several minutes, which will be offered by public media and private television starting at 20:15.
The acting prime minister told reporters during Thursday’s commemorative action in Prague’s Vítkov that he had not consulted the president’s office about his speech on a national holiday. “It was a short speech, I thought it was appropriate,” he said.
Regarding the state of health of the president, he noted that he was in contact with Miroslav Zavoral, director of the Central Military Hospital of Prague (ÚVN), where the president is located. “I had a dream (with the VN director, note ed.) I talk regularly. I’m waiting for the President to be moved to a regular room and then I’ll have the opportunity to visit him,” he added.
He said he had no more specific information about the state of the president’s health.
Zeman is now hospitalized at the VN Anesthesiology, Resuscitation and Intensive Medicine Clinic, where he was taken by ambulance on Sunday, October 10, from the castle in Lány.
As we reported in previous days, the head of VN Zavoral decided to form a medical board that will evaluate Miloš Zeman’s health condition and subsequent treatment. And he has approached leading Czech doctors and experts to become members.
From the editor’s findings, the former chancellor of Charles University and doctor Tomáš Zima was approached, for example. In addition, the famous physiotherapist and owner of the Center for Movement Medicine Pavel Kolář, who has experience treating the third Czech president. Kolář himself was active on the board during Zeman’s running issue in 2013.
Another member of the new presidential medical corps was surgeon Pavel Pafko, who operated on President Václav Havel in 1996. He confirmed his participation in the emerging council and stated that he fully supports the VN leadership in the current treatment of Miloš Zeman. It was said that it was inappropriate to oppose the previous actions of the doctors in Střešovice.
