The Norwegian women’s football team was beaten by Brazil in a 1-4 loss at Ullevaal

The passive Norwegian team barely threatened the Brazilian guests in the slightly humid October weather. A tense game in the early minutes meant a grueling night, and that’s what Norway got.

Brazil controlled everything, but the new score was created in the 43rd minute. Adriana dragged herself past two or three Norwegians and dropped the ball past debutant sunniva Skoglund who was defenseless at home to Norway.

Offensively, Norway did not contribute anything in the first half. After the break, Hege Riise’s team started badly in defending their own box. Only two minutes passed before Beatriz had space and punished a silent opponent. He finished well and put the ball in to make it 2-0.

Shortly thereafter, Norway received a reduction. From close range, Celin Bizet Ildhusøy scored his fifth goal of international number eleven following a corner from Guro Reiten. The ball was pushed by the opponent, but the alert Ildhusy was standing far behind the field.

The increase did not last long. Two minutes later, the Norwegians struggled to clear a corner, and again Beatriz capitalized on the waiting game before making it 3-1.

With almost a quarter of an hour to go, Brazil’s fourth netizen also arrived. This time it came from substitute Jaqueline dos Santos, who easily scored through the ball from captain Ramires at the back post.

The defeat was Norway’s first at home since the US won 1-0 at Sandefjord in June 2017.
