The Council of Ministers of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is held in Łódź, which is also the annual Polish presidential summary event. – Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a challenge for every OSCE member state. Together, we must demonstrate that the values ​​and principles we developed together decades ago still apply. This is an absolute necessity. There is no approval for criminal aggression in the 21st century, violations of humanitarian law, deliberate attacks on infrastructure. There is no agreement to any treaty that would approve forced border changes in Europe. All peace talks must be held with the voluntary consent of the Ukrainian authorities, Duda stressed.

The president pointed out that recognizing Russia’s achievements at the expense of Ukraine is a direct path to new major conflicts, including world wars. – I’m not saying this to scare anyone, but a serious approach to European security requires consideration of all options. We must learn from the events of February 24, he added.

In his speech, he stressed that the only way to bring order to Europe and prevent similar attacks from happening in the future is to hold those responsible to account. “Unfortunately, for the first time since the end of World War II, we are dealing with flagrant armed action against the principles we all agreed upon voluntarily to prevent the outbreak of a new war in Europe,” said Andrzej Duda.
