US President Joe Biden acknowledged the possibility of re-election in 2024. According to him, the condition is that he will enjoy good health as before. In an interview with ABC, the 79-year-old Biden also said that his chances of re-election would increase if former President Donald Trump ran for the White House again.
“Yes,” Biden replied emphatically when asked by the host if he plans to seek re-election. “If I am as healthy as I am now, if I am healthy, then I will run again,” Biden said.
Asked whether he would run even if it meant “getting even” against Trump, Biden said: “Absolutely. Why wouldn’t I run against Donald Trump if he was the nominee? That would increase my chances of running.”
Biden and Trump are pitted against each other in the November 2020 presidential election. Trump is still recovering from his defeat and repeated his baseless claims that the vote was rigged and the election was stolen from him.
At this year’s inauguration, Biden, who was 78 years old, became the oldest person ever to take the presidential oath. The question of whether he will run for a second term has accompanied him throughout his presidency so far.
Until recently, Biden’s vice president, Kamala Harris, was considered Biden’s natural successor as president. But rumors are spreading in Washington about her current bad relationship with the president.
