The smallest Opel is not a car, but the quad bike is called Rocks-e. It runs on electricity with a maximum speed of 45 km/h and aims to appear cute and fun.
The automaker decided to underscore the latter a bit and a few weeks ago launched a campaign on social media where fans supposedly proposed their own variant. But it didn’t just go away – the proposals were evaluated by a jury consisting of Opel CEO Florian Huettl, Vice President of Design Mark Adams and automotive influencer and reviewer Jessica Thön.
He has chosen a winner and will build on his idea, even though it may not be easy. He named a version called Rocks e-xtreme, designed by design student Lukas Wenzhöfer, as the best.
As well as the bright yellow color, the latter also has an external armor frame with additional headlights and a giant wing at the rear, and most importantly, a fairly basic chassis modification. It got more ground clearance and properly extended wheels.
“Opel Rocks-e allows young people to be mobile and enjoy a pure driving experience. My concept takes these aspects to the extreme level. Off-road driving capability enhances the feeling of freedom to reach any destination. And increased sportsmanship promises more driving pleasure to show that electric mobility is more than a common sense solution,” explained Wenzhöfer.
Agree or not, it must be admitted that his creations really look ready for anything that can be encountered in the field. However, it should be added that the resulting car will not be mass-produced – Opel will manufacture one piece.
