During World War II he was a forced laborer. After the war, he and his family settled in Zielona Góra. In 1952, he graduated from law studies at the University of Poznań. After completing his legal training, from 1956 to 2007 he practiced as a lawyer, first in Sulechów, and from 1959 in Zielona Góra. He was a defense attorney in the trials following the Zielona Góra Incident of 30 May 1960.
He is an important figure in the Catholic community. In the early 1980s he became a member of the Polish Catholic and Social Union. From 1980 to 1981, he was a local “Solidarity” advisor.
In 1989–1993 he was a member Senate First term (recommended by the Citizens’ Committee) and second term (in the name of Christian Democracy), representing Zielona Góra Province.
In 1996–1997 he was a member of the Diocese Poland Constitution team. From 1997 to 2001 he member of the State Court.
He is a member of the Christian-National Union. In 2007, he supported the creation of the Polish Republican Right Party, to which he joined.
He was awarded the highest honors many times.
