War reparations from Germany

Last Thursday – on the 83rd anniversary of the outbreak of World War II – a report on the losses suffered by Poland as a result of German aggression and occupation in 1939-1945 was presented at the Royal Palace in Warsaw. As Jarosław Kaczyński, president of Law and Justice pointed out during his speech, calculations show that war damages should amount to more than six trillion zlotys.

There is already a voice in the German press that the amount given in the report will never flow to Poland, which the ruling party knows. The journalist “Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung” even wrote of the “cynical instrumentation of the memories of the millions who were killed”.
