Serengeti National Park is one of the most famous and largest nature reserves in Africa. This is identical to a typical savanna, where visitors can see herds of zebras, antelopes and other animals. “The Maasai tribe call the plains of Serengeti National Park a place where the land continues to flow — so prepare to be amazed by the park’s vastness,” writes TripAdvisor about the African wilderness.
The second ranked Jim Corbett National Park is the oldest in India. It was founded as early as 1936 and primarily serves to protect the endangered Indian tiger. However, only part of the nature reserve is open to tourists, but its popularity is increasing mainly due to its natural diversity with valleys, forests and swamps.
Third place is occupied by the Masai Mara National Reserve in Africa, where TripAdvisor notes that 1.3 million wildebeest can be seen migrating with predators chasing them. “This is one of the most beautiful natural views you will only experience in the Masai Mara in southwest Kenya.”
The US Grand Teton National Park is named after the mountain of the same name, which, at 4,199 meters, is the highest in the Teton Mountains. The beautiful mountain peaks reflected on the surface of the lake are one of the biggest attractions. And especially in autumn, the park attracts visitors with its striking colors.
The top five is closed by the Kruger National Park in the Republic of South Africa, which is also one of the most famous parks on the continent. “South Africa’s largest nature reserve, Kruger National Park, is basically synonymous with the word safari. It is home to more than 500 species of birds, 100 reptiles, nearly 150 mammals, many archaeological sites and a stunning variety of trees and flowers,” TripAdvisor lists just a few of the attractions.
Some European ones were also placed
The selection also includes Costa Rica’s Arenal Volcano National Park, America’s Grand Canyon park, Zion, Chile’s Torres del Paine, and New Zealand’s Fiordland rounding out the top ten.
Of the European parks included in the twenty-five winners, the British Yorkshire Dales came in eleventh place, Vatnajökull in Iceland in seventeenth, 21st place belonged to Croatia’s Plitvice Lakes and the penultimate 24th place was again the National Park British Peak District.
The order of winners is determined by an algorithm that analyzes user reviews. So far, the Travelers’ Choice awards have included destinations other than national parks.
