Co-organized by the World Water Council and the government of Senegal, the 9th edition of the World Water Forum will be held in Dakar, Senegal, on 21-26 March 2022 with the theme “water security for peace and development”.
This is the first time this international event has been held in sub-Saharan Africa. Designed as a catalyst for meetings that promote commitment and action, the World Water Forum aims to strengthen the world’s capacity to respond to contemporary challenges related to water.
The event is structured, for this 9th edition, with four priorities: water and sanitation security; water for rural development; Cooperation; “Tools and Tools” includes important questions about financing, governance, knowledge management, and innovation. Dubbed the “Answers Forum”, the 9th World Water Forum aims to deliver proven results and solutions to communities around the world.
It will bring together a high-level audience from all continents, whether representatives from international and non-governmental organizations, large corporations, humanitarian foundations and associations, researchers and academics or women and politicians.
The 9th World Water Forum also aims to become a platform of expression for all stakeholders (including groups of women, youth, farmers, herders and fishermen) and thereby contribute to the qualitative transformation of people’s daily lives and improve the productive performance of the sector.
“We are very proud to bring together governments, the private sector and civil society organizations to strengthen the implementation of the actions needed to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals” said Abdoulaye Sene, Executive Secretary of the 9th edition of the World Water Forum.
