The US has warned Iran’s government that Washington will consider any attempt to assassinate Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, an act of war, Reuters reported, citing sources in Washington.
US President Joe Biden has ordered his team to deal with Iran’s plans against America, said a US official, speaking on condition of anonymity.
At Biden’s direction, top US officials delivered a warning to the Iranian government asking Tehran to stop all plans against Trump and former US officials.
Iran denies accusations that it interferes in the internal affairs of the United States, although it also believes that the United States has interfered in its internal affairs for decades – from the coup against the prime minister in 1953 to the assassination of Qassem in 2020. Soleimani, head of foreign operations Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The then US President, Trump, approved the operation that resulted in the death of Iran’s top military commander. The decision was taken after receiving information that Soleimani was preparing attacks against American diplomats and armed forces in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and other regions in the Middle East.
Threats from Iran
The campaign staff of the Republican candidate in November’s presidential election reported in the second half of September that US intelligence had warned Trump about possible threats from Iran.
The White House said Washington had been closely monitoring Iran’s threats to Trump for years and warned Tehran of “serious consequences.”
We consider this a matter of national and internal security of highest priority and strongly condemn Iran for its brazen threats. If Iran attacks any of our citizens, including those who still serve the United States or those who have served in the United States, there will be severe consequences
– announced Sean Savett, spokesman for the US National Security Council.
