The presidents of Poland and China held an hour-long telephone conversation on Friday afternoon, Polish time. They talked about the war in Ukraine and the mutual Poland-China relations. The contact was initiated by Beijing, which law firm Andrzej Duda emphasized on Twitter:

I am very happy to talk to Chairman Xi Jinping. We talked about Ukraine and its territorial integrity, I talked about the need to fight the food crisis caused by Russia, we discussed relations [Polski i Chin – przyp. red.] developments which were an important point in the policy of the Republic of Poland

The President of the Republic of Poland conveyed Poland’s position on the Russian attack and drew attention to the negative impact of war on security in our region, including trade cooperation with China, according to a statement by the Chancellor of the Republic of Poland.
China is ready to work with Poland for peace in Ukraine
President Xi Jinping expressed his readiness to cooperate with Poland in finding a way to end the war in Ukraine peacefully. Both sides stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries, including Ukraine. President Duda highlighted Russia’s efforts to cause a global food crisis and China’s possible active role in preventing its emergence.
The Polish government also announced that the leaders also talked about developing economic cooperation, including how to reduce Poland’s trade deficit in trade with China – including by increasing Polish food exports to the country.
