54 days until Christmas Day. Therefore, the time has come for Czech Television to declassify its Christmas broadcast schedule and once again we can look forward to a new fairy tale from the trusted director Karel Janák. This time, in the story of the Key of St. Peter, he takes us to heaven, to the royal palace, and to the world beneath the surface of the water.

“The time of Christmas is here, which is undoubtedly a time full of hope, joy, but also meetings with those we love and who love us… Christmas is associated with traditions. One of the sweetest is the annual premiere of the Christmas Eve fairy tale… Fairy tales are only on ČT screens during the Christmas holidays, and this year will be no different.,” Jan Souček, CEO of Czech Television, said at a press conference.

Therefore, viewers can look forward to complete news on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. First, we unwrap the gift in the fairy tale Key of St. Peter, where the main roles will be played by Filip Březina, Berenika Kohoutová, Sára Korbelová, Sabina Remundová, David Novotný, Lukáš Příkazský and Petr Nárožný. But all characters will behave very differently from what their nature dictates. “Saint Peter has to open the gates of heaven with a pickaxe, the main character sings to the people about how they should be honest and decent and not steal, but then he coincidentally meets one thief and one cheater. Aquarius is a romantic. He himself did not drown anyone and was willing to leave his underwater kingdom for the sake of love,” the director explained.

On Christmas Day, we will see a story from the Czechoslovak production of Fr Three gold ducats. Viewers will certainly appreciate that this year they can choose whether to watch the fairy tale in its original version or with Czech dubbing. Director Mariana Čengel Solčanská cast Katarína Krajčovičová, Ladislav Bédi, Marián Labuda Jr., Zuzana Norisová, Michal Isteník, and Jitka Čvančarová in the story of the beautiful castle girl Julia, who wanders through the centuries under a spell. “In terms of folklore, the Three Golden Ducats is closest to Perinbaba and in terms of humor it is closest to Cinderella,” he says, saying that time travel will play an important role here.
