Sunday, September 29, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. “Corteo”, from the Italian cortege, is a lively and festive procession in the imagination of a clown. The show combines the passion of an actor with the grace and strength of an acrobat to immerse the audience in a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity, located in a mysterious space between heaven and earth. The clown imagines his own funeral, which takes place in a carnival atmosphere and is watched over by angels who care for him in peace. Juxtaposing the great with the small, the ridiculous with the tragic, and the magic of perfection with the grace of imperfection, the show highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness, to illustrate the part of humanity that is in each of us. Accompanied by lyrical and cheerful music, “Corteo” will be a timeless celebration where illusion penetrates reality. In Cirque du Soleil’s first show, the arena stage was in the middle, dividing the stage in two, providing a unique perspective and atmosphere that Cirque du Soleil had never seen before in an arena show. The Eiffel Tower-inspired backdrop and hand-painted center curtain gave the stage a grand atmosphere. This set the poetic tone of the “Corteo” show.
