Climate activists deflate car tires

The group itself claims this in a press release. “Tire dealers” describe their method of deflated SUV tires they raided in the fashionable district.

According to the group, they deflated tires of 26 cars at Ullevål Hageby on Wednesday night. Last week they emptied the tires at Frogner. Our Oslo referring to Frogner’s action on Tuesday. The “agent” then sabotaged the tires of the electric car, the paper said.

– We remain on the best west bank, the group wrote in an anonymous email to Dagbladet.

Shareholders are currently anonymous.

– We simply place a small nut in the air valve of one or more tires, and leave a note informing that the tire is empty. Within an hour, all the air had seeped out, the group wrote themselves.

– Seventh largest emission

According to the group itself, the action was part of a coordinated action in several countries such as Denmark, Britain and Germany. Extreme opposition to SUVs (Sport utility vehicle, journ.anm.) seems to be the background of the illegal action.

– The increase in sales of SUVs in the world is one of the main reasons why greenhouse gas emissions have increased in recent years. If SUV were a country, it would be the seventh largest in the world in terms of emissions, the group wrote.

– Unsafe tilt

The group itself called the move “radical” and acknowledged that emptying tires was illegal. They themselves claim that luxury consumption in society has forced them to “politicize”.

– We’re not sure here, but after much thought have chosen to follow similar movements in other countries. Non-action in the face of the climate crisis and stagnant policies is also an active option. “Of course, we hope we don’t have to offend the private individuals concerned, but we feel we should step in where that policy fails,” the anonymous “Ban Agent” wrote.

Dagbladet has been in contact with Oslo police in connection with the campaign. They have not been able to confirm any reviews regarding the promotion.
