00:01. Zelensky: we created a new type of troops – Unmanned Systems Troops
Ukraine is starting to build a new, separate type of military: the Unmanned Systems Army, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Tuesday. Drones are not weapons of the future, their use must bring real results today, he said.
I have just signed a decree initiating the creation of a separate type of troops in our Defense Forces – Unmanned Systems Troops. And this is not a matter of the future – this is something that will bring very specific results in the near future
– he stated in the daily summary of his activities.
Zelensky said this year should be a decisive year in the fight against Russia.
Drones – unmanned aerial systems – have proven effective in combat on land, in the sky and at sea. Ukraine has completely changed the security situation in the Black Sea thanks to drones. Countering ground attacks is largely the job of drones. Massive destruction of invaders and their equipment is also a result of drones
– he explained.
The President explained a list of tasks related to the formation of the Unmanned Systems Army. He mentioned, among other things: creating special staff to work with drones, effective training, systematization of experience, increasing production and attracting the best ideas and the best specialists in this field.
In the near future, the creation of the Unmanned Systems Army will be discussed at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Zelensky said.
