The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has published an updated infographic showing the combat losses of the Russian army from February 24, 2022 to June 7, 2024.
08:57. “FT”: The European Commission will recommend starting accession talks with Ukraine
On Friday, the European Commission will recommend starting accession talks with Ukraine in June, before Budapest takes over rotating leadership of the bloc, the Financial Times reported, citing three sources “close to the matter.”
The European Commission wants to start formal talks with Kiev and Chisinau to send a positive signal to Ukraine and Moldova regarding their European aspirations.
Kiev applied for EU membership weeks after Russia invaded in 2022 and was granted candidate status just months later. This was one of the quickest decisions taken by the bloc, prompted by Moscow’s aggression.
08:00. Air Force Commander: Last night we destroyed 48 enemy drones and 5 missiles
Ukrainian air defenses shot down 48 Shahed drones and five Ch-101/Ch-55 cruise missiles that Russian forces used to attack Ukraine on the night of Thursday to Friday, the air force commander, General Mykola Oleschuk, said via Telegram.
The enemy attacked Ukraine’s critical infrastructure using strategic aviation – Tu-95MS bombers from the airspace of Saratov Oblast and Shahed-131/136 combat drones from Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Yeysk and Kursk regions in Russia, and Cape Chauda in Crimea
– he wrote Ołeszczuk. The general said that in total, Russia used five Kh-101/Ch-555 cruise missiles and 53 Shahed-131/136 unmanned aerial vehicles.
Ołeszczuk noted that air defense missile units, mobile gunnery groups and electronic warfare equipment were involved to repel the Russian attacks.
48 Shahed drones and 5 Ch-101/Ch-555 cruise missiles were shot down in the Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Odessa, Kharkov, Kiev and Khmelnytsky regions – stressed the commander.
07:49. Russian night attacks cause fires in the Kiev region
A Russian airstrike caused a fire at a facility in Kiev’s industrial zone on Friday morning, the Ukrinform news agency reported, citing a message from Ruslan Kravchenko, the region’s governor.

03:58. air alarm declared, explosion in Khmelnytsky Oblast
A large-scale air alert was imposed in Ukraine in connection with a Russian missile attack, “Ukraińska Pravda” reported. The sound of the explosion was heard in Khmelnytsky Oblast in the west of the country.
According to the site, citing military sources, the Russians fired, among other things, cruise missiles and attack drones.
Earlier, on Thursday evening, the Ukrainian Air Force announced the take-off of four Russian strategic bombers.
