00:01. White House: Possible deployment of troops from North Korea to Kursk Oblast

The number of troops North Korea is sending to Russia may be higher than the initial estimate of 3,000. and it is likely some of them will be sent to fight in the Kursk region, said John Kirby, a spokesman for the US National Security Council.

In an online briefing Friday, Kirby reported on a meeting of U.S. and South Korean national security advisers. and Japan, said they expressed “serious concerns” about sending North Korean troops to Russia. He added that the Kim Jong Un regime’s involvement in the war in Ukraine “extends the security consequences of Russia’s brutal and illegal war beyond Europe and into the Indo-Pacific.”

When asked by journalists about the difference in estimates of the number of troops sent between the allies – Ukraine and South Korea. they talk about 12,000, and Americans at least 3,000. – Kirby admits that their number may be higher and that this is being analyzed by the American services. He also added that it was “definitely possible” and even possible that at least some of these soldiers would be stationed in Kursk Oblast to try to push Ukrainian forces out of Russian territory.
