Coach Glimt, who was loud on the flare in the stands: – Absolutely unimaginable
Kjetil Knutsen believes that the use of pyro effects in Norwegian football stands should be clamped down harder. – This has nothing to do with the stadium, he said.
The flare thrower was reported and this week banned for 35 matches for using pyro at Brann Stadium on Sunday, where Bodø/Glimt were guests. Three children and two adults had their clothing damaged after flares were thrown into the stands.
– Blass, with the temperature it holds, which we allow in games, is unbelievable for me, Knutsen said during a press conference on Wednesday, according to NRK.
On Thursday, Bodø/Glimt face Lugano in the conference league.
– It’s only a matter of time before a serious accident occurs. Whether it comes into contact with hair or jackets… It’s absolutely unbelievable that we’re at that level. “Just look at England, it’s banned there,” said Knutsen.
Kristian Vikran Karlsen in the Nordland police district told NRK that flares in the stands were not allowed and would be reported, referring to Thursday’s match in Aspmyra.
Flares are still an unusual sight in Norwegian football stands. As a trial scheme, the Norwegian Football Association handed over responsibility to clubs to react to unwanted incidents in the stands.
Football president Lise Klaveness said earlier this week that she felt a “lump in the stomach” when she realized what happened at Brann Stadium in the match against Bodø/Glimt.
– It should be safe to fight in Norway, Klaveness told VG.
