The Tour de Ski changed due to Norwegian pressure
Earlier this week, Fis was able to report that due to a lack of snow, it was cancelled 10 kilometer chase start to 10 kilometer co start on the second stage in Val Müstair.
At tonight’s team leader meeting, several countries will return to the start of the hunt, including Norway.
Fis did, and changed back to the start of the hunt.
– During today’s official track training and testing, several teams expressed concerns about safety. The feedback was thoroughly discussed with all the teams present, and the decision was made to change the format back to the start of the hunt, wrote Fis in a press release.
The slopes down the sprint course have created a challenge for the skiers in practice the day before the start of the Tour de Ski.
Running downhill on a sprint course also creates problems for cross-country skiers. Several crashed during the descent, and Norway was one of several countries that demanded that the track be closed to keep conditions as good as possible.
Fis has been listening to Norwegian, and is taking steps to keep the track as best he can.

– They closed and initially only gave girls who would walk a quarter of an hour on the trail. Then off, before the boys got a quarter of an hour. There will be very different traffic on the track than we get today. It would be very wrong to have a normal opening for two or three hours before the race when there is such a descent, Monsen told the newspaper
