One hundred and eighty seven. Czech passport holders can travel to many countries and regions around the world without having to arrange a visa first, according to the latest order drafted by consulting firm Henley and Partners (H&P).
Thus, the Czech Republic is in a great position to take fifth place, the same “score” as, for example, Switzerland or Norway.
According to H&P, Singaporean citizens have the most powerful passports, allowing administratively easy travel to 192 destinations.
Japanese people have the strongest waists. The Czechs dropped to eighth position
Italy, Germany and Spain (190) rank second, while Afghanistan (27), Iraq (29) and Syria (30) are at the bottom.
Holders of Czech travel documents from European countries must have a visa only when traveling to Russia. The largest number of “visa” countries located in Africa, China, India and Pakistan require travel visas from large and important countries for Czechs.
However, some countries require entry into their territory with a so-called prior permit, which must be done in advance online – examples are the United States or Australia.
Czech Republic rises, America loses
Trends over time are as important as absolute rankings, and the Czech Republic also performs well in this regard. The Czech passport rose to its current fifth position over the last ten years from fifteenth position.
Surprisingly, among the countries that fall short in terms of travel document strength is the United States – although in 2013 it was at the top, it is now eighth in the H&P ranking.
According to Greg Lindsay, international relations researcher at Cornell University in New York, quoted by Qatar Media House Al Jazeerathe reasons for America’s withdrawal were clear and lay in “mutual disinterest and problems.”
This means that more and more states are asking the US to allow visa-free entry of American citizens into their territories in exchange for the same and vice versa, which the US often does not allow.
