This is very sad news. Edward Mosberg died, a Polish Jew, Holocaust survivor, has been deeply involved in developing Polish-Jewish dialogue, especially in recent years. And also a man who was never afraid to tell the truth about German crimes, and who defended the good name of Poland and Poland with great determination.

Mosberg was a prisoner of the German camps in Płaszów and Mauthausen. At the outbreak of World War II, he was 13 years old. Most of his relatives died in the Holocaust.

I’m here to say that I agree with what Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that Nazi Germany was responsible for the Holocaust

– he said during the March of the Living in May 2019.

In turn, in an interview with wPolsce.pl television he emphasized:

I’m just telling the truth. If it weren’t for Germany, there would be no concentration camps in Poland.

Despite such harrowing experiences, despite the loss of his family during the Holocaust, Edward Mosberg was a very warm and kind person, enjoying life. He always said that he had a big mission to tell the truth:

I am a Holocaust survivor and it is my duty to tell the world about the tragedy of the Holocaust. I am part of the March of the Living, Shoah Foundation and From the Depths. These are three organizations that educate people around the world about the Holocaust.

President Andrzej Duda awarded Edward Mosberg with the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland “for outstanding services in promoting Polish-Jewish dialogue and disseminating knowledge of Poland’s role in saving the Jewish people.”

At the age of 93, returning to the city where I was born and receiving such decorations was a very moving state for me. I receive this award on behalf of myself, my wife, my children and grandchildren, and most importantly, in honor of my mother, father, brothers and sisters and the 6 million Jews brutally murdered by Nazi Germany during the Holocaust. believe that the tragedy of the Holocaust will never be forgotten. I also dedicate decorations to those who surrendered and risked their lives to save the Jews during the war, such as Ulma’s family of Markowa, and also in hopes of better relations between Jews and Poles.
