After months of speculation, Erling Braut Haaland is ready for Manchester City this spring, where he has had a fine start with nine goals in five games.
On Saturday, a documentary will be published on Viaplay, which viewers will be able to take part in from February until the transition becomes a fact.
It appeared that Haaland had not made a decision in early February.
– I had five or six options, but honestly I could cut it into three, said Haaland himself.
Point system
Pastor Alf-Inge “Alfie” Haaland explained that Team Haaland has a separate points system to determine the current team ranking.
With the two most important criteria:
- Who is the best team?
- Who needs number nine?
Alfie explained that on their list earlier this year Manchester City were the best team, Bayern Munich second. Real Madrid, PSG, Liverpool, Chelsea and Barcelona followed.
– It would be controversial to go to Bayern Munich. They were interested, he said.
– Not surprised
– Who needs number nine? There, Manchester City are a solid 10, while Real Madrid are five or six, they have Benzema, and will they get Mbappe? Bayern Munich is one, but if they lose Lewandowski, they have nobody, explained Alfie.
– How often do you update the list?
– Some things are set. Club size, stadium and league quality. Best ranked England, Spain number two. They’re nice. Finances will change, so will the quality of the team and the need for number nine, Alfie replied.
Let go of emotions
They are also clear that club affiliation, such as the fact that Alfie himself plays for Manchester City, has nothing to do with it. Also the manager.
– It is more important that the club is behind you than the coach. Suddenly the coach was fired three weeks later. It is a big plus to have Pep Guardiola as coach, because he is the best in the world, but not decisive, explains Erling Braut Haaland himself.
In an interview recorded in the spring of the documentary, he replied that there were three options. He could stay at Borussia Dortmund, go to Manchester City or to Real Madrid.
Full argument on Spanish TV
– Not talking about money
In the end, it emerged that Manchester City won by a single point over a big Spanish club – based on the Haaland family’s own points system.
Haaland also explained that the welcome he received from the Manchester City players when he met them as opponents in the Dortmund shirt played a part.
– I think there were 15 people who said I should come to Manchester City. Phil Foden, Ruben Dias, John Stones, Kevin De Bruyne. “It’s very good and important that the players want you,” said the goal machine from Jæren.
– What about those who say you go there for the money?
– That is not true. You can’t care about things like that. Money is never the main motivation, but you still want to make as much as possible. “It’s been a dream to play football and be able to make a living from it for the rest of my life,” Erling replied.
– We haven’t discussed finances with anyone, we know it will be fine, said Alfie.
