Yes, an average of 26 to 28 °C in winter and 29 to 32 °C in summer, that’s what the temperature is like on Hawaii’s largest island. It’s called Pulau Besar, but that’s the official name Hawaii. Its most famous natural attraction is called Mauna Kea and that’s basically how it is highest mountain in the world.
The problem is, its height is six kilometers below the sea. “Only” 4,205 meters are visible above the ground, which does not pose a major challenge for climbers. In addition, it can be driven by car, and when it snows, skiers traverse its slopes. Standing at the top on skis, looking around and seeing the green of the palm trees and the blue of the sea washing the sand of the beach in the distance is truly unique and indescribable. Hawaii only.
Travel around the world through Hawaii | |
---|---|
A unique journey around the world by private plane began in Prague in March 2016. Here there is no risk of being squeezed into a cramped seat among fellow passengers. Everyone sat in comfortable chairs that stood alone. Additionally, stop at ten beautiful places in the world, including Hawaii with a trip to its highest volcano, Mauna Kea. |
Rising to the clouds is something only the elite of the tribe can do
The total size of Mauna Kea 10,205 meters. Its creation was caused by the presence of a huge magma reservoir beneath its current location. It tore through the seabed and began to roll toward the surface. By spewing lava and subsequent cooling, the volcano continued to grow until it surpassed a height of ten kilometers. Then there was a shift in the lithospheric plates which cut off the supply of hot material. Since then, Mauna Kea has not been considered an active volcano.
Thanks to this, the snow remains on top. By the way, the first official ascent of Mauna Keu was made in 1823, at that time there was no road to get there and it was not like walking through a rose garden like it is today. It is said that native people have reached the highest peaks before, but not just any of them. They revere the giant volcano as a sacred mountain, so that only local tribal chiefs can climb it.

White mountains emerge from the romantic garden
Although Mauna Kea has long been off the list of active volcanoes, it is included in the landscape surrounding the national park Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. Within it, side by side, mighty hills rise from the green of the Pacific paradise. Just like a painting by a romantic painter.
And one huge volcano stands nearby. Her name is Mauna Loa and at the highest point of her sister, she was the most beautiful sight that ever existed. You can also see the peak in the clouds. When the snow falls, it is immediately clear why it is called Mauna Kea, namely the white mountain.
A luxurious backdrop awaits beyond the wilderness
However, the surface of the Hawaiian islands is not only covered by volcanoes. Instead, groves of palm trees and green bushes stretch as far as the eye can see. And on the coast you will find many sandy beaches, among them the famous Waialea Beach or Mauna Kea Resort Beach, an hour and a half drive from the volcano of the same name.
Such a beauty also has a proper background. There are beach bars with a specific atmosphere and colorful cocktails near the beach, and luxury hotel chains such as Marriott have branches on the island.
Even though the biggest wave of tourism throughout the archipelago leads to the island of Oahu, the Big Island or Hawaii is no less beautiful, even more beautiful thanks to its mountainous landscape with very high volcanoes. But it is difficult to explain to those who have not seen it with their own eyes.

The Best of All the Worlds 2016
On the pilgrimage route to the most beautiful places in the world, which started from Prague in March 2016, there are several interesting destinations that stand out. Let’s take a closer look at ten of them.
The Antigua and Barbuda Islands consist of three parts – Antigua, Barbuda and the mini-island of Redondo. The largest is Antigua. On it we find the capital of St. St. John’s – the most important port in the country – but also charming wooden houses, brown mulattoes and 365 beaches – for every day of the year 1!
The mysterious Tikal pyramids
A booming trade in jungle fruits, bloody rituals and mysterious ceremonies, the building of more pyramids, all this happened every day, until the Europeans came and destroyed the thriving cities of present-day Guatemala with their weapons. For nine centuries, Tikal hid in the forest. Now we can admire it again.
Luxurious Los Cabos Mexico
For example, guitarist Eric Clapton, eccentric billionaire Richard Branson, or fashion guru Giorgio Armani go to Antigua to relax, while similar customers in Los Cabos, Mexico. The southern tip of the California peninsula is synonymous with the most luxurious vacations.
Volcano Army in Hawaii
Not only the huge Mauna Kea, but also the slightly lower Mauna Loa rises above the surface of the largest island in the Hawaiian chain. The beauty of Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park is complemented by folk art in the form of ancient images of the fire goddess and the volcano Pele, which can be admired in local museum exhibits.
To the Romantic Center of Sua in Samoa
Pacific Samoa has no shortage of fun corners. But the To Sua basin with its emerald lake is a sight that will never dry your romantic eyes. The fact that you can climb into it and bathe right in it is amazing!
Sydney – an opera known even to die-hard metalheads
Whatever style of music you listen to, you will definitely know the Opera House in Sydney, Australia, because it is one of the most original buildings with modern architecture. Its “shell” roof reaches a radius of up to 75 meters. The panorama is complemented by another famous building of the city – the Harbor Bridge.
Brown top in the Philippines
More than 1,200 bulbous green plants planted side by side stretch across the Philippine province of Bohol, like a fairytale kingdom filled with pistachio ice cream. No wonder it is included in UNESCO’s natural heritage list.
Himeji Castle with snail defense and James Bond
One of the most famous Japanese castles stands out with its original defensive elements. Like a snail, a maze of alleys stretched around the main tower, which forced attackers to advance in a spiral and thus exposed themselves to the fire of the castle guards for a longer time. Among others, the legendary film The Last Samurai or the Bond film You Only Live Twice were filmed here.
Luang Prabang Venice in Asia
You probably won’t be looking for Venice in Laos, but know that they have an equally charming city there. Luang Prabang’s historic center and the mighty Mekong River make it a popular tourist destination.
Gan Island is undoubtedly a charming corner of the country, but it could actually be written about the entire Maldives. Almost every corner of the beach is perfect for swimming in the crystal clear sea, lazing on a net among the palm trees, or strolling on the pier in the middle of the sea.
