Klæbo on injury: – On the road to recovery
Johannes Høsflot Klæbo is starting to see a bright spot at the end of the tunnel after he had to abandon his original training plan due to a hamstring injury.
When he spoke to NRK from a highland camp in Utah in the US, he spoke about the state of magical and bodily training on the road to recovery.
– I still haven’t run much. I can run every day, so I still haven’t run an hour. It still takes time, but the conditions for training are truly magical. “I’ve had a lot of good sessions,” said Klæbo.
Ten weeks after the injury – which came out of nowhere – befell the cross-country star, he is still not sure when he will be able to run normally or practice diagonal walking.
– I find it hard to say if it will take a week, two weeks or four weeks, but I am on my way to recovery. It’s boring because it takes so long, but that’s part of the game.
Through video calls on Teams, he receives daily follow-ups by physiotherapists. Slowly he walked.
– I run a little every day. There are many short sessions, and they all take place at the factory in a controlled manner. “Like I said, it’s on the way to recovery,” said Klæbo.
There’s still one more week to stay in Utah. The season starts as planned in Beitostølen in late November.
