The memory of the world-famous Pilsen doctor and ecologist Ondřej Hes, who died unexpectedly in June, is honored by his colleagues and friends with the organization of an exhibition called “Ondre Wetlands.” It is currently on display in the courtyard of the Pilsen Zoo. This exhibition highlights and showcases Ondra’s activities in the areas of environmental, nature and wildlife protection.

The purpose of the opening is not only to open the exhibition, but also to commemorate and honor the legacy and memory of prominent Pilsen doctors, pathologists, herpetologists, terrarists, athletes, friends, ecologists, colleagues, founders of the EDEN Foundation and DESOP member Professor Ondřej Hes. About a hundred people came to the event, ranging from friends, colleagues, family, students, and friends to representatives of authorities, institutions and entities. Among those in attendance were Ondřej’s medical colleagues and experts, as well as friends who implemented projects to protect his species or played sports with him. His comrades from Romania, Georgia and Slovakia also arrived.

“Despite the fact that Ondřej Hes has never looked for a similar and large-scale event and is not entirely a fan of his, I believe that he will be sincerely pleased with the large number of people who come together and come to see its ponds, puddles and islands of biodiversity. “ said Karel Mako, head of the Pilsen animal rescue station, who gave the opening remarks at the opening.

“Ondra was originally supposed to be standing here, and the exhibition was supposed to only consist of 12 large-format boards of the most stunning photos of our wetlands! However, now that I think about it, if Ondra had organized the exhibition, as he wanted, then probably no one here, because he has no time for such an event and instead he will mow the lawn around the pond somewhere. Even so, I’m sure that he sees us now and is glad that so many of you have come.” said Karel Mako at the beginning of the opening.

The Ondra Wetlands Exhibition will be on display until the end of August at the Mediterraneum Chapel premises at ZOO Pilsen.

Great sadness runs rampant not only in medical circles, at Pilsen University Hospital, but also among supporters and collaborators of the DESOP ecological association and Pilsen Animal Rescue Station. Ondřej Hes, a globally recognized company…
