Explaining to police in Zamość where it all started, the 75-year-old said he is a fan of world-famous music and follows various profiles associated with him.
While browsing one of these profiles, he saw someone writing to him that the musician had won a car and other valuables. The condition to receive the prize is to provide data and telephone number. The 75-year-old man showed it. Then he started receiving messages from various numbers from people claiming to be representatives of the courier company, the CEO of his favorite musician, and even the musician himself. Everyone confirmed that he won a car and a lot of money – report candidate staff Dorota Krukowska-Bubiłopress spokesperson of the City Police Headquarters in Zamość.
As the deceived woman continued, in order to get the award, she had to make some donations. First, about PLN 470. Then 1000 zloty.
He paid the first amount. Others didn’t, and then from another phone number he got a message signed by the “CEO” warning that those who made him pay for the package were scammers.
The same “director” advised him to transfer the amount of PLN 705 and assured him that the prize would be delivered safely to the winner. This reassured the woman. But when, after paying PLN 705, he got another message to make another payment, he said it was all a scam.
Now the police are working on the case.
We ask for common sense and limited trust in relation to people who send this kind of message about winning – they ask.
